About The Wakefield Corporation

Since 1986 when Jim Wakefield founded The Wakefield Corporation on the core values of Integrity, Service, Excellence and Quality we have been one of East Tennessee’s premier drywall and metal stud framing subcontractors. As we begin our 36th year our expertise has expanded to also include acoustical ceilings and exterior insulated finishing systems.

With over 309 years project management, estimating, and construction supervision experience paired with a dedication to our customer’s needs and a safe work environment for our employees we have solidified a reputation for excellence. Our portfolio includes extensive experience in medical, education and industrial facilities as well as hotels, condominiums and restaurants.

Our attention to detail and our drive to stay ahead of our competition have made us a leader in our industry regarding safety, technology and innovative materials.

Our Founder – Jim Wakefield – AGC Knoxville’s 2021 SIR Award

The SIR Award is given to honor those who have made outstanding lifetime contributions to our community, our quality of life, and the construction industry. It is known as the “Oscar” of the Industry and is an opportunity for members, their families, and colleagues to recognize leaders in the construction industry and celebrate this lifetime achievement award.

Jim Wakefield founded The Wakefield Corporation in 1986 based on four core values: Service, Integrity, Quality and Excellence. Today, the company is run by his daughter Erin Wakefield Mahan and they are proudly employing the third generation of their family. What he loved most about this industry was not the buildings he left his mark on, but the people that were and are served within those buildings. Jim would have been the first to tell you it was his employees, his TWC family, that helped shape and mold The Wakefield Corporation into what they are today. More important than the company’s achievements were Jim’s philanthropic endeavors including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Knoxville, The Boy Scouts of America Great Smoky Mountain Council, and his service to Cokesbury Church.
